Talk about a January thaw! The temps on the peninsula have not been kind to the ice. The ice depth remains pretty consistent on the whitefish grounds with 12-14″. Last Thursday a large crack opened up on the far north end of Larson reef and left some ice houses stranded. Luckily there was no one on the “bad” side of the crack when it opened. The ice houses were recovered safely Saturday.
We had to unfortunately last minute cancel most of our groups just because of the warm up, crack, and rain. Since Sunday the ice remains intact with no new cracks. The ice still seems to be good. We drilled and inspected the ice to our “first deep water” spot. Late last week before the warm up the fish was darn good with quick limit catches on the traditional whitefish rigs.
We should be running full steam from Thursday on out, if you have questions about you reservations contact JJ at 920-493-2953 via text or voice. We are getting snow tonight and the temps begin to get below zero!
We are monitoring the ice, daily, by the hour.
We Looking forward to fishing with you soon.
