The first major arctic blast has arrived with single digit lows the past couple of nights. Ice formation has really expanded across Green Bay. The bay has a really good ice pack, the only thing we are waiting on is for it to grow in thickness. We have a couple small cracks to heal up and along with some thicker ice we should be good. Looking ahead to the up coming weekend,1-26 we should be good by then, but we are hoping to start getting out by mid week if conditions allow. We are super close. If you are on the fence about the ice, there is a brutal cold that will be arriving next week. Give us a call to lock in any last minute dates. Space is limited.

E282CACC-F218-47B6-9049-606D482308F0As we approach the weekend and the arctic blast, this should really firm up the rest of the ice and expand the ice pack up into the island of northern Green Bay. The ice this year, especially close to shore is extremely rough, We are chipping roads to make it easier on the machines. We should be up and running to our deep spots mid week next week. Just waiting to see how this cold weather impacts the ice thats here. There have been several large freighters that have come into sturgeon bay which has opened up some cracks. This cold can come now!

The past couple nights has expanded the ice pack across Green Bay. We had some strong winds however which helped to pulverize the ice. Going to be some rough ice if this sticks around. Flew my drone, pics will show. should be about a good week out. One more good cold snap late next week will help!

Ice formation on the bay of green bay has been extremely slow. Mild temperatures are preventing the expansive bay from freezing over. The forecast looks optimistic. We should be going late in January . In the mean time we have been working on gear, and making sure everything is ready to go. We have snuck out in some of the inner harbors for perch action. It has been decent. Will keep this updated as it gets cold.

There is some ice in the inner bays, but there are many open holes. Not many anglers have ventured out. There is a cold snap predicted around Christmas. Won’t take much as the cold November has the wate rready!

We we are putting th finishing touches on the gear and getting ready!  If you have not locked in your dates, time is running out. Many weekends only have one or two open spots left!

Another great week in the ice! Most groups had good success. Waxies and artificial bait working good in those traditional whitefish rigs. We had a fish that measured 26”, I have not seen one that big in a couple years.

Ice depth ranges from 18”-23” in the offshore locations. The cracks seems to be all healed up and increasing in depth. I have availability up to the weekend. Drop us a line if your interested in getting out this week

The past warm up and strong south did not hurt any of the ice pack around the sturgeon Bay Area.

We are still fishing the deep off shore structure with 18-24 “ of ice. The cold this week will help stiffen the cracks even more.

Shipping traffic in to Green Bay is over. Ice should even lock more. Ice pack extends all the way to Deaths Door.

The fishing the past couple days has been decent, anglers who focus and pay attention are having the most success. The bite is some of the lightest I have seen. The size of the fish this year seems to be the same or better. Also we have been catching some very small white fish 8”-10”. This is good to see and are from the 2014-2015 hatch. Good signs.

Opening this weekend

I just had a house open for Saturday 2-3 and Sunday 2-4 for a guided group. Please contact me for availability. 920 493 2953

We are on the off shore structure and the bite has been pretty good all week. All groups with limit catches. Typical whitefish slider rigs working really well aswell as a variety of other techniques. Fish seem to be bigger and “chunkier”. Its fun reeling those fish up from 90FOW!

We made it through this warm up pretty good. Just a couple cracks near shore we need to navigate but those are healing up nicely. The off shore cracks hardly moved all week and are going to get strong with the cold snap. The ice is SUPER smooth and cleats are a MUST!

OPENINGS-
I have two houses open for Sunday, Please give me a call to book them
