Fishing Report 1-21

We are fishing in 60-90FOW and the fishing has been very consistent with limits or near limits daily. The traditonal whitefish rigs with a single hook has been producing very good. The fish size seems to be consistent like last year. We expect a strong bite to last for a while. Ice conditions are good with 12″-14″

Picture from the weekend and early this week.

Update 1-4

Ice conditions continue to improve day by day. We have not ventured out to the deeper water yet. I think we will start checking that ice early in the week. The bite was a little tougher for whitefish this weekend due to the amount of pressure in such a small location. Some anglers are fishing the Lime Kiln shoreline, but there is a large crack and ice thickness is very spotty. I would advise not going to this fishing location.

Update 1-1

Ice formation continues to improve. 6-9″ at the mouths of the inner bays, lesser amounts of ice along the shorelines of the bay south of Little Sturgeon. Ice formations on Larsons reef continue to improve. There are pockets of open water that are decreasing daily. THIS ICE IS NOT SAFE. We were quite shocked to see how much ice was around Sherwood point and north. Again this ice is not ready to fish, but in the coming days/week Green bay should expand its ice pack north.

No MODIS satellite image today.

We did wet our lines and caught several whitefish on the typical whitefish set up. The fish look healthy and “beefy”. Also did try for walleyes with a couple bits, but nothing hit the ice.

We will be guiding every day from here on out.

Be safe, JJ
