Ice conditions are looking excellent after the recent warm-up. We’re currently sitting on 20–24 inches of solid ice with no pressure cracks to report. The entire bay is completely locked up — north to south and east to west. It’s impressive coverage for this time of year.
I took a plane ride last week to get a full look at the area, and everything is in great shape. With the current forecast showing favorable temperatures, we’re expecting at least another two solid weeks of safe ice conditions if the weather continues as predicted.
Fishing Report
Fishing has been pretty decent across the board. A couple of groups have managed to get full limits, while most are coming in around half limits — and for late February, that’s good fishing in my book.
The deep water bite remains strong and consistent, which is exactly what we like to see heading into the back half of the season.
We still have some openings for the final couple weeks, and with warm weather and steady action ahead, it’s shaping up to be a great finish to the season.
Let’s go fishing.
