There is come ice with in the inner portions of Little Sturgeon. Its about 2-5″ in spots. The temps look warmer until sunday. After that we should make plenty of ice…until then I will have a report.
Late Ice Walleye Bite
With the coldest part of the winter behind us, some of the best ice fishing is upon us! Late ice whitefish bite tends to be extremely strong, while the walleye ice fishing goes into over drive. March is the best time of the year to put trophy walleyes on the ice. I still have avalibility during march. Please contact us immediatly if you are looking to book a late ice trophy walley trip.
The whitefish bite remains very strong with limit cathces or near limit catches. Occasional burbot is also being caught. Walleye bite is starting to pick up. Should get better with the anicipated warmer weather. Ice depth remains at nearly 25+ inches.
Look forward to fishing with you soon. Captain JJ
Fishing Report 1-21
We are fishing in 60-90FOW and the fishing has been very consistent with limits or near limits daily. The traditonal whitefish rigs with a single hook has been producing very good. The fish size seems to be consistent like last year. We expect a strong bite to last for a while. Ice conditions are good with 12″-14″
Picture from the weekend and early this week.
1-7 FISHING THE REEF
We were able to get out to the traditonal whitefish spots, fishing is red hot. We have waited a long time to get out these spots. WIll have detailed report tomorrow.

Update 1-4
Ice conditions continue to improve day by day. We have not ventured out to the deeper water yet. I think we will start checking that ice early in the week. The bite was a little tougher for whitefish this weekend due to the amount of pressure in such a small location. Some anglers are fishing the Lime Kiln shoreline, but there is a large crack and ice thickness is very spotty. I would advise not going to this fishing location.
Pictures from the weekend.
Update 1-1
Ice formation continues to improve. 6-9″ at the mouths of the inner bays, lesser amounts of ice along the shorelines of the bay south of Little Sturgeon. Ice formations on Larsons reef continue to improve. There are pockets of open water that are decreasing daily. THIS ICE IS NOT SAFE. We were quite shocked to see how much ice was around Sherwood point and north. Again this ice is not ready to fish, but in the coming days/week Green bay should expand its ice pack north.
No MODIS satellite image today.
We did wet our lines and caught several whitefish on the typical whitefish set up. The fish look healthy and “beefy”. Also did try for walleyes with a couple bits, but nothing hit the ice.
We will be guiding every day from here on out.
Be safe, JJ
Update 12-30
The cold temperatures have improved ice conditons around the area. Most areas have 2-5″ on the big water and larger amounts in the inner bays. I have attached some photos that were taken today to show the ice
Report December 29
Cold weather has made its way into the region and will last well into the next weekend. We are waiting for a couple colder nights to venture out on some ice that had formed prior to the rain over the holiday. With this cold weather strong westerly winds will make ice formation tricky and will hamper ice formation. Hope to have a midweek report. Stay tuned.
2015 First Report 12/23
We are just a couple days away from Christmas and the ice formation on Green Bay is minimal at best. Last year at this time the bay was froze past Chambers Island. Not the case this year. Some of the smaller bays on Green Bay have froze over with 5-10″ ice. The rain from the past couple days has made a sloppy mess of whats out their. They are getting some perch on minnow. 8-12fow.
Once it gets colder we will do more posts detailing ice conditions.
Merry Christmas JJ

Late Ice Report
Even tho the ice houses need to be taken off the ice daily we are still fishing. The whitefish bite continues to be very good with consistent action. We are now starting to target walleyes. The action is just starting to fire up. Averaging 2-5 fish per trip. Jigging Rapalas or OddBalls tipped with minnows working the best. Fishing anywhere from 25-35fow. The bite will get better towards late March into early April. Anticipated ice out date is April 20. Trophy opportunities await!
